http://www.kgw.com/ - the jerks require registration, but they've got current live coverage. This happened at 4:28 PM Pacific time.

Jet had mechanical problems, pilot attempted to steer away from neighborhood and back to airport, three houses were hit, two burned.

yeah... It apparently hit in the area north of Ronler Acres, if you know where that one is. I think it's north of Evergreen Parkway; the pilot apparently pulled up to avoid the apartments. It also seems that everyone had left the houses (either to avoid airshow noise or on trips or something) but they're not completely sure yet.

The pilot had taken off to return home to Southern California; the plane was a rebuilt Hawker-Hunter that had been restored by a teacher (retired airforce pilot) who would take it to airshows. He never performed, just showed the plane.

I read in another article that a witness claimed he was performing a loop and couldn't pull out of it when he crashed.

Yeah, I saw the interview with the witness on tv - other people said "No, that's not what he was doing, he was trying to pull up." He wasn't moving fast enough after the takeoff and was trying to return to the field but didn't have time; he apparently was aiming at an empty field just past the houses.
