There's a certain morbid but pervasive idea that perhaps started when John Kennedy was killed, and a clever author wrote a brief piece on his meeting in the anteroom of the afterlife with two other recently deceased persons. No, I don't recall the name, the author, nor the publication, and there's too much noise, I can't find it with Google in a decent time.
Anyway. Julia Child
, Fay Wray
, and Manuel Maloof
all passed away last week. The latter one, Manuel Maloof, was not as famous as Julia or Fay, but he was possibly as influential, a Democrat who ran a bar in Atlanta where he championed the passionate outpouring of political speech, who had an open and caring heart and who (when he ran for and won public office) kept that same intimacy, openness, and personal care for the people he served.
It would be interesting to hear their conversation in the anteroom. Probably something about good food.
