Because I said so

Science is wonderful.

Part of my training in Stephens Ministry was to recognize the classic stages of coping with death.
The ones identified by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Except, it seems, nobody has ever replicated her insights, because they were 'self-evident' and could be easily verified by looking.

Oops. That's one of the no-no indications for psychological science - you can pull out almost any kind of nonsense from anecdotal observations.

Anyway, she's dead, or is she? And Slate has an article about it.
