big fat disk

So. I have acquired a mass-storage box that comes with the ability to do mass backups.
My only gripe is that it is fecking NOISY. Not sure what I can do about that. I do intend to do something, probably surgery to replace the fan with a better fan.

It supports this backup program that I may or may not bother with.
My real reason for this thing: I have put four 500GB SATA drives into it. Two terabytes, and it's the size of a toaster.

I've told it to go 'raid 5' which will, theoretically, give me about 1.5 terabytes of storage.
The silly thing offered to make 30 percent of that available for 'file sharing'. No, 30 percent can be used for backups. I want my terabyte of storage for the media PC that I intend to assemble tomorrow if I get things tidied up enough.
