Steve Gerber, RIP

Steve Gerber has died of pulmonary fibrosis on the 10th of February, 2008.

Besides his creation of Howard the Duck, he also created Thundarr the Barbarian and his friends Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel.

His unsuccessful fight to regain the rights to his Howard character resulted, eventually, in a huge change to the work-for-hire predatory practices of comics publishers.

Howard the Duck was one of the comics that I used to entice Penny into further conversation in my dorm room, some 32 years ago.

I remembered that. And I really liked the show, by the way.
The morning I got married (a Saturday) I watched that show because I wanted to see if it was really a 2-part episode.

If I work on it I can probably tell you which episode it was.

And after only a small amount of brain-digging, it was the show where they were rescuing a group of people from slavery to a mutant-mage (i.e. one of about six) where the particular mutant-mage used a lot of box-shaped robots. Very kirby-esque. Still not a positive ID yet.
