Blame thandrak for this ...

A perfect and compelling tale herein that explains why the Star Wars prequel movies suck.

It also explained so much about the Gungans and their wacky underwater environment.

I nominate Sally to retcon meaning into the Ewoks.

I hope they do this for the original trilogy as well. I can see lots of possibilities.

This comic made Jar Jar awesome. Tell me how good a writer you have to be to do that?

You're welcome.

An amazing one. Also, have you seen the MagnoliaFan edits of Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones? Subtle manipulation of subtitles and rendering all of Jar Jar's dialogue in a mix of language tracks makes for an almost watchable pair of movies.

How does that work, by the way? Did they replace his awshucks-slash-blackface-slash-village_idiot dialect with something less asinine?

They replace all of Jar Jar's dialogue with pastiches of foreign language tracks (mostly Spanish, where whoever provided his voice eschewed the aw-shuckish qualities) coupled with foreign language tracks run backwards. Then they provided subtitles for him that make him sound coarse but not bumbling; when cheering on Anakin at the podraces, for example, instead of saying "Go, Ani!" he says, "Go, you magnificent bastard!"

They also replaced the Trade Federation and the other Gungans' dialogue in a similar manner. Further, they altered the Trade Federation goons' lines to make it clear that their actions are in retaliation for Naboo exposing their slave-trading racket.

Overall, it's all more convincing and palatable than Uncle George's versions.

Unfortunately, you'll have to Bittorrent the movies if you want them; together, they're about a GB and a half.

Now that creates an entirely different and interesting alternative.

Because the Trade Federation is the one which is pushing the use of droids in combat, and the Republic creates this cloning experiment which virutally enslaves thousands or millions of copies of one man.

Moral ambiguity, interesting.
