Possum Drop

I haven't heard whether there's been a follow-on to this or not, but normanrafferty and mahto might be interested in the annual possum drop.

Ah, yes, the Brasstown Possum Drop. Perfectly appropos for that part of NC, trust me. ;)

Also is not so bad, I guess, since they do let the poor devil go afterwards.

Not that it's terribly relevant, other than possum-related, but when my hubby went to throw away an empty spray-paint can in the trash bin the other afternoon, he came face-to-foot (His foot, possum's face) with what he describes as PossumZilla.

He claimed it was some 1.5-2 feet long, before tail, and as wide around as our Christmas turkey.

It hissed at him, and continued trundling along its merry way.

That's a survivor. It takes 'em two or three years to get that big.
Then they die. Possums only live like five or six years in captivity, and in the wild they go faster.
We found that out when we saw a zoo possum up close. Somehow even a well-groomed and trained possum makes a rat look clean.
